Hi Doug,

I am just writing to let you know how well Diesel is doing. The change in his behaviour is really remarkable, a friend of mine who is afraid of dogs even made a comment about how content and relaxed he appeared. The Doug Morrison technique and your understanding of dog psychology pinpointed and addressed our problem issues right away. You clearly explained your technique and you are very informative and helpful with regards to all my questions, allowing me to understand and communicate with my dog in a way that we both can understand. I thoroughly look forward to our sessions and have realized that taking leadership is actually quite easy when you are shown how. I would highly recommend your training course to anyone who has a dog and believes respect is a two way street. Diesel has respect for me and I for him, this bond is a great thing to watch unfold. I know this was the best thing I could have ever done for my dog. Once again thank you.

Training with Doug Morrison

I met Doug Morrison 16 years ago because like so many other people I was having serious behavioural problems with my 2.5 year old Lhasa Apso (Happy). When I met Doug, he came over to my house to meet both me and Happy. In walked this burly, loud man who scared the living daylights out of me and my dog. So, we sat down on the couch and started talking about the problems that I was having with Happy. After I got through all the things that I wanted corrected, Doug quickly told me he could help! I couldn’t have been more thrilled. He told me exactly what type of leash I needed to buy, and then told me I had to go and get a slip collar for my dog. My response…”there is no way you are putting a choke collar on my dog”. Doug stood up, shook my hand, told me that it was nice to meet me and started to leave. I panicked and despite my better judgment, agreed to let him train Happy and to do what he asked of me with regards to his training. Well, 16 years later, we still talk, and Happy, who went through
Basic and advanced obedience as well as the Super Pet course was the best pet than anyone could have ever asked for, and all of that is owed to this burly, loud man that scared the living daylights out of us! Without Doug’s training and help all these years, I would never of had such an incredible pet. Happy passed away just before turning 18 years old, and during his life, after Doug, I never had any aggression problems, or obedience problems with him. Every person that every met Happy commented first on how full of life he was, and then how well behaved he was, and all of that is owed to Doug Morrison.

Fast forward to now. I just bought a pure bread Yorkshire terrier. When I first brought her home, I quickly realized that this dog was in need of training. She was biting us, going to the bathroom all over the house, barking, incapable of walking on a leash. Since Doug had moved away from Ottawa, my search for a new trainer started. And trust me, trainers are a dime a dozen. Sadly, none of them can hold a candle to Doug’s experience or technique. And, once you’ve had the best, the idea of settling for anything less is very difficult. So, I called Doug and asked him if he’d be willing to come to Ottawa and train my dog for me because there was no one here that would ever be able to offer me the same training that Doug did. Lucky for me, Doug agreed. We spent one full day together teaching the dog basic obedience skills for a total of about 3.5 hrs. By the time that Doug left, my dog, who prior to Doug coming down wouldn’t do anything she was told, was now sitting, laying down, healing and staying for up to 15min. when no one was in the room with her. That one thing by itself speaks volumes about his skills.

There are a lot of people out there (myself included at one time) that would not agree with Doug’s methods. He does not reward your dog with treats, and believes that your dog should be working for you, and not the other way around. Doug believes in giving your dog lots of love and affection, and in return, your dog gives it back. And it works better than any little cookie you can give to your dog. I know from experience.

I am now confident that I will have the dog that I want in our Yorkie, and I know that because of Doug’s training.

Patricia, Ottawa

Thanks Doug and Tanya, much appreciated for all your help…

Back in December, my husband and I received our little German Shepherd puppy. Meiko, our puppy, is everything we wanted, but she also came with challenges that a puppy brings to a household. I desperately needed help as we had no control over her.

You were referred by a co-worker of mine and let me tell you what a Godsend you were/are. You and Tanya had trained Meiko for 2 weeks, and we both witnessed the amazing transformation of our puppy. You also showed us the proper and correct techniques on how to overcome certain problems, and that we need to set the proper rules from the beginning. You not only gave us hope for our puppy, but also honest and practical advice which is what every dog owner needs.

Thanks to you, my husband and I can communicate better with our puppy. We look forward to enrolling Meiko in the Super Dog program and bringing out her potential.

Sincerely

Janice, Paul & Meiko

Thanks Doug for your help thus far...

Doug Morrison....a synonym for Our Savior!

Hi, my name is Jerry Deluca and my wife's name is Maria. We live in a pleasant Woodbridge, Ontario neighborhood. Like us, many families in the area have dogs as family pets. A neighborhood with dogs can make for quiet evenings - NOT!

We've had Sadie - a white 15 lb Wire Haired Jack Russell Terrier (a.k.a Jack Russell Terror) for 3 years and love her endlessly...One look at cute little Sadie and you'll fall in love with her too...although Doug won't admit to that.

Why in-house dog training? Along with general obedience, Maria and I will soon welcome a child into our home and a few changes need to happen which include having Sadie ready for that addition to the family. Both Maria and I agreed Sadie needed some obedience modification for certain situations such as; when visitors arrive at the front door of our home, when family and friends stay for dinner, encounters with other dogs during Sadie's daily walks, and of coarse as mentioned, Sadie's reaction to the new addition.

We met with Doug, not long after our decision to commit to formal dog training and he agreed to work with us, so he offered his plan.

After our first lesson, Sadie was a new dog. She seemed to go from a rambunctious little teenager to a mature obedient adult...Doug "the miracle worker" Morrison...Wow what happened to Sadie...? Within that hour we regained complete control of our house and the barking problem - gone. Within that first hour we accomplished so much...we looked forward to the remain lessons.

Maria and I both admit that most of the changes happened with us...we learned quickly that these lessons are about the owner's. Doug's ingenious approach is straight forward and honest. He tells it like it is.

We're now happy dog owners with Sadie's barking under total control - Sadie is walking with control and our friends and family visits are wonderful with Sadie as a mature Jack Russell Terrier and no longer a Terror!

Well, we're half way through our training and we've already begun recommending Doug Morrison to the rest of the neighborhood dog owners.

Thanks Doug.

Doug Morrison was a pleasure to work with. He had our pup, Diesel, (In actual fact “us”) trained even before the Puppy Kindergarten classes were complete. Doug answered all our questions regarding Diesel, and her needs to help her grow into healthy, happy dog. If a solution to a concern or challenge appeared and did not work for our pup he always had alternatives.

Doug was very personable and made the experience fun while giving us a lot of knowledge, it was well worth every penny. Our 4 month old pup is so well behaved people are amazed and complement Diesel when they see her on the street.

We have three small children and it is important to have a dog who will know its’ place in the home, be obedient, protective, and will treat our three small children with gentleness and kindness. The kids love being involved in the care of Diesel.

After failed attempts to get Diesel to be gentle when receiving a treat I asked Doug for a technique that would work. The very same day I had all the kids giving the pup a treat from hand to mouth with no aggression from Diesel.

We look forward to our Family training in a month!!!!!

Our dog champ is 4 years old and had total run of the house, suffered from separation anxiety and had problems walking on a leash along with many other normal dog problems, until we met Doug.

After the first training session with Doug and using his techniques, champ is like a different dog, no longer jumps up on the furniture, no more running around the house like he owns it, it was an amazing week.

Second week, we worked on healing, sitting, and laying down, champ responded so well, to Doug's techniques.

When Doug comes over to train he works with all of us, my mother, father, sister , champ and myself, Doug has been an asset to our lives, if you don't believe this call him, see for yourself.

The Crossen Family

We called Doug about 2 months after we got Jake. Everyone told us that a Brittany could not be trained to be off leash. After only 3 months with Doug, Jake was proving everyone wrong. We had a dog that would listen and walk with the kids without pulling their arm off. I still work with Jake and now am using Doug’s techniques to train Samson. Not only did we get amazing training skills… We got an incredible FRIEND, Doug will always have a special place in our hearts.

wpe29.jpg (8348 bytes) The in-house assessment and training with Doug is invaluable. With some minor home adjustments and the discipline of dog and handler personalized instruction, major changes have taken place.

The investment of Doug's fee and the time spent on regular practice with my dog is so worth it. Kalo used to bark at people and vehicles passing the house. She would jump on guests and didn't respond well to voice commands off leash. Since Doug's first visit Kalo has quit the constant barking and no longer chases cars. She has responded so well to the individualized training.

We are building on Doug's techniques and working them into our everyday lives. Kalo is so relaxed now and much more confident, so a lot happier.
I highly recommend Doug's services.

I am so thrilled with Shelby's obedience training. Doug's guidance and instruction is wonderful. After her second lesson, Shelby could heel, sit, stay and down. She was only 3 months of age. We are now doing off leash obedience training and best of all --------- NO FOOD TREATS. JUST LOTS OF HUGS AND KISSES.

Doug - Owen & Stephen BurnsAfter searching throughout Canada to find the most qualified professional dog trainer to implement a canine Mine Detection Dog program, the obvious choice was Doug Morrison. Mr. Morrison was hired and contracted out to Kosovo for a 5 month tour of duty, where he completed his mission with such distinction, he received the United Nations Letter of Accreditation as an Explosive Detection Dog Handler/Trainer on his very first attempt, a feat never before accomplished by any other Canadian. His knowledge and expertise continue to play a key role in the mandate of this company and I am proud to have Mr. Morrison as a valued member of my staff.

I would like to thank Doug Morison for saving our dog SHEBA. Sheba was absolutely uncontrollable, fear aggressive dog, barking and lunging at people, noises , cars, motorcycles, and other dogs that went by our front yard. We couldn't take her for a walk for fear of meeting someone on the trail and have her go ballistic.

We tried another obedience school and she was so scared of the other people and dogs and the trainer that we couldn't take her again. She would snarl at the neighbours when they talked to her. she was at the point where she couldn't be trusted. We new sooner or later that she would bite someone and then of course she would have to be put down. The vet couldn't touch her without a muzzle , and he provided me with Doug Morison's flyer.
After allot of crying we contacted Doug Morrison and he came out to the house for a visit, and of course Sheba did justice to her personality by being a jerk, but he didn't suggest she be put down. We received individual lessons, and after just three (3 ) lessons she heels, sits, stays, recalls and downs. We even started doing some off leash work. she is quite lovely now and much more relaxed. We love this dog with all our might and probably would have died a slow death if in fact she would have had to be put down. she probably will never allow strangers to pet her, but having the knowledge that she can be controlled makes her and our lives great and so again, thank you Doug Morrison for saving our dog. I would like to pass on my experience with the training of my dog with Doug Morrison of Morrison Canine Development.

I didn't have allot of confidence in my ability to control my dog. He did go to the Canadian Kennel Club puppy course in his first year, but having a high strong temperament he was relegated to the back of the class until he calmed down. this lead him to acting up more and it turned out to be a bad experience for the dog and my husband.

As our dog turned 2 he became a good family pet but we couldn't take him anywhere because he would get out of control and sometime s would get aggressive towards other dogs. I decided that we needed a professional dog trainer and picked Doug. Doug is a fantastic teacher and his dog training methods really work. My dog and myself have completed 10 hours of training and I am amazed at his progress. He behaves around other dogs, I can make him stay, and he doesn't pull on the leash. His off leash obedience is really coming along. I feel confident when we are out for a walk that it will be an enjoyable experience for both of us. I would recommend Doug with Morrison Canine Development for anyone whether the dog has personality quirks or not.
It has been a pleasure working with him.

To Doug @ K-9 Development:  My husband & I have a 13 month old German Shepard, Satya. She has been to 2 other training centers in Victoria, but your K-9 Development has completely changed her! She lives in the country with us, and sees few people or other dogs, never any children. It was on an outing with our god-children that we realized we had a problem dog. The five year girl could not keep away from Satya, and had I not been between them, who knows what damage could have been done. I realized she could be an aggressive fear-biter, and needed to do something fast. Your training, done with gentle assertiveness, has changed this dog completely. She is more confident, does many commands (on & off leash), and is under control!! I now have an understanding of what she needs and how to provide it... Thank you for turning our experience around, and of turning my beautiful dog into an obedient & happy pet...
Yours truly, Lori James

I would like to pass on my experience with the training of my dog with Doug Morrison of Morrison Canine Development.

I am a very proud dog-dad ! My 9 month old German shepherd/golden retriever just won a trophy for being the dog of the year in Doug Morrison’s Superdog Course. Teka is an exceptional puppy , who I have worked hard to train, but I could not have done that without the expert and personable training that Doug offers. I would highly recommend Morrison K9 to anyone that wants a better behaved, happier dog. And all this without any food treats!

Thank you Doug.
Dana

I knew dog training was a complex art... I didn't know the half of it! Lucky for me, Doug Morrison has an endless amount of patience and makes the whole training experience enjoyable. His clear, step-by-step instructions ensured that even someone like me, with two left feet and no coordination to speak of, could easily learn each procedure. With his "eagle-eye" observance of me in action Doug was able to correct the mistakes I was making that were confusing my dog. These same mistakes would ultimately confuse my clients when I began training others. Doug not only taught me HOW we train a dog, he taught me WHY different methods are used in different situations, for different dogs, for different owners. He truly had a solution for every canine/owner problem imaginable and he proved time and time again that his methods work.

While I was Doug's student, little Cena--our seven month old Rottweiler--was MY student... with Doug's guidance she was trained in basic obedience, on and off leash. And Doug also showed me how to solve all those "typical problems" so many dog/puppy owners have--chewing, barking, potty-training issues, pulling on the leash, jumping up. She's become an ideal companion and I am so proud to show her off. It's a joy to have a dog who obeys when given a command, who isn't underfoot every moment, who can be safe in any situation because she's under my control. Typical Cena, she even charmed the socks off "Uncle Doug"... come on Doug, admit it. :)

Since I was unable to travel to the Island to train, Doug came to me!! It was a pleasure having him stay with us here on the Prairies. He was a wonderful house guest, a great story-teller and an incredible trainer, not to mention an amazing chef! I look forward to our future training and a lifelong friendship. It was a true honour to have you as my teacher.

Your new friends out here hope you'll be back soon.

Respectfully,
Carrie Matychuk
